One Cool Cat

Letting the proverbial cat out of the bag, we have some exciting news to share.

In a late-breaking turn of events, our wonderful and highly esteemed accompanist, Mr. Paul Lees, has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall as part of our concert there February 20, 2023. To say this is exciting for The Voices of Flower Mound would be an understatement.

While this news has been known to a handful of people for a few days, it couldn’t be made public until just now. On Thursday, January 26, 2023 I received a rather urgent communication from New York City offering an opportunity for Paul to fulfill a part in the concert. As the musicians there are generally under retainer contract, no provision had been made for our pianist to perform in the concert. Well, as you might imagine, the remainder of the day turned into a whirlwind of activity with phone calls, emails, and text messages back and forth between myself, Paul, the President of the Voices of Flower Mound Board of Directors (and in turn the President with the Board at large), and the producers of our concert at Carnegie Hall, Distinguished Concerts International New York. Within a dizzying few hours of talks, it was settled: Paul would come to New York City with us as pianist. I can’t quite remember the last time I was so excited to have to book a short notice flight and hotel room. In fact, everyone involved was quite excited to get to have him play for us in New York City.

All hail Mr. Paul Lees as he tickles those Carnegie Hall ivories!

How about that cat?
